The Vehicle dock is good, but a little too pricy for what it offers. The plastic nut at the back is kind of cheap and won't secure the dock very well.

The vehicle dock for the original Motorola Droid was a nice piece of work. The dock for the Droid 3 is even better. The new design makes it easy to charge the phone while it is being used as an automobile GPS, which was not the case with the original dock. It is also easier to use the suction device.
The engineers obviously learned lessons from the original dock and built a better device this time around. Kudos to them.

I've owned a Droid, Droid 2 and Droid X before getting a Droid 3, and have had car docks for all of them.
Buying this new dock was pretty much a given.
First, I made sure to buy it direct from Amazon, vs another seller. I got a brand new, sealed unit, which included all the items listed and pictured.
Anyone who complains that they got an opened box, or were missing items, probably tried to save a few bucks and order from the cheapest seller, vs fulfillment from Amazon.
I ordered this at the same time as the OtterBox Commuter Series Hybrid Case for Motorola DROID 3 - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Black to see if they would play nice together... they dont. However, I only have the otterbox on the phone when Im working, so I dont mind.
However, i've found that the TPU style cases do fit on the dock, so thats a plus.
The power plug has a second USB outlet, which I use to power my 5 inch tablet I use as a GPS in the car. Both units charge at the same time. The cord has a stereo audio out, which I've plugged into my stereo's aux in jack, and I can listen to Slacker/Pandora/Google Music from the phone. The jack is at the PLUG side of the cord, and a decent length stereo audio cable is included with a right angle plug, so it doesnt stick out far from my stereo.
Like other docks, it sticks well to the window and the disc, and stays put.
